How the group started
Legend has it that the Group started as a result of a conversation between Jim Jepson and Gordon Smith who were concerned that Club Photography did not give monochrome photography a fair crack of the whip.

They decided to put a notice in the photographic press to ask if there were sufficient enthusiasts in the Northampton area to form a special interest group. As a result a meeting was held on the 3rd March 1999 at Earls Barton Church hall, which twenty-two people attended. It was agreed that there was enough interest to hold regular monthly meetings.

From this inaugural meeting the Group has gone from strength to strength. A healthy mix- of traditional and digital workers now regularly attend our meetings. We have supported numerous Open Exhibitions with a high percentage of acceptances.
