La Gacilly photography festival

Each year the village of La Gacilly holds a festival of nature and environmental photography. Organised by Yves Rocher perfumes, and sponsored by Kodak, Canon and a few more companies, the Exhibitions feature the images of amateurs and professionals both in colour and monochrome. Geoff  visited the festival in June  2007.

The images are reproduced on waterproof materials and are displayed in the streets, either on stands or attached to buildings. They vary in size from 1.5m x 2m to about 6m x 2m. My shot of the portrait, and of the salt gatherers was about 3 x 2m. In all images from 14 photographers were on display on the village streets from 1 June to 30 September and were backed with displays about man’s effect on the environment and a variety of exhibits supplied by artists and craftsmen. I would recommend visiting in September next year when the floral displays will be at their peak.

From this highlight we travelled back through the rain to an equally wet England but will be revisiting on the basis that we cannot hit such bad weather twice!!

The official website for the festival is given below, but  you can also find more  information via Google.
